Workplace Asbestos Surveys
Work Safe require that all managers of a workplace in Australia maintain an Asbestos Register on site which contains information about the site following a large scale Asbestos Survey of the environment. This document needs to be updated every five years. Failure to comply with this regulation can result in a fine of up to $30,000.
- Over time Asbestos deteriorates and must be re-evaluated in terms of their risk.
- Changes to the workplace may mean that the previous Asbestos survey is outdated.
- Damage to the materials could have taken place in the time since the last survey.
